Keep Building

As I shared in my last blog, often when the Lord gives us a promise, a prophetic word or inspiration to do something, the enemy will try to bring opposition to try to get us to stop and give up. That is what happened to the children of Israel in Ezra 4. King Cyrus (King of Babylon, Persia) had issued a decree to allow a group of Jews to go back to Jerusalem and start rebuilding it. Although their enemies were trying to oppose them from the start, when a new king arose, they saw a new opportunity to try to stop the rebuilding by sending false reports to the new king.

Ezra 4:4-5 says: 4 Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building, 5 and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus, king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia (NKJV). The Jews were temporarily ordered to stop building, but then the prophets Haggai and Zechariah encouraged them to start building again.

Again their enemies tried to stop them, but it backfired, because after the inquiry by the king was over, not only were their enemies ordered to leave them alone and let them keep building, but the king also said they were to take money out of the royal treasury to pay for the rebuilding.

We need to realize, anytime the Lord calls us to do something, we will get opposition from the enemy, but a delay does not mean denial. We have to keep building, praying, etc., until or unless the Lord tells us otherwise. The enemy wants to bring discouragement, because he knows if we give up and stop praying, he could win. Keep building! God bless you all.
