Flood Waters Rising

My husband and I have both had dreams about floods in the last year or so. I dreamed that I was at my grandparents old house, which is a single story, but in my dream, it was a two story house. We were upstairs in the second story and I was looking out the window when I saw a flood of water coming around the bend and down the dirt road. In a matter of seconds, the water went from probably a quarter of a mile down the road to the bottom of the window where I was standing looking out. It happened so quickly, it was almost unbelievable, but it seemed that we were in a place of protection, above the flood.

Floods in the Bible can represent judgment or trouble or even the presence of God, but in this case I felt it was judgment or trouble. I also thought of the scripture in Daniel 9:26 that says “the end shall come like a flood” (meaning to happen rapidly). I have certainly noticed how the signs of the times seem to be speeding up and happening back to back.

I heard someone sharing a prophetic word last week where he was talking about how the level of spiritual warfare and trials are rising and we, as Christians, are going to have to raise our level of prayer and our personal walk with the Lord to keep up with it. I totally agree.

In the last week or two, I have sensed the warfare of the enemy rising and it seems that the enemy tries to create every kind of hindrance, upset, or distraction to keep us from having the personal time with the Lord that we need. I realize that all of us have to become more diligent in this area, if we want to “dwell in the secret place of the most high” (Psalm 91) and be equipped for the battles we will face.

I had several scriptures come to mind this morning as I was reading the Bible. I would like to share some of them with you all.

Isaiah 59:19 says: When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him and put him to flight. (AMP)

Isaiah 43:1b-2: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name: you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. (AMP)

Isaiah 41:10-16 says: Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. Behold, all they who are enraged and inflamed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; they who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you but shall not find them; they who war against you shall be as nothing, as nothing at all. For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, fear not; I will help you! Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. Behold I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff. You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel. (AMP)

In this passage, the Lord does not say He will take us out of the difficulties, but rather that He will strengthen us and transform us through them. The Bible says that everyone who was in debt, discouraged, etc. came to David and they became his “mighty men of valor.”

Hebrews 11:33-34 speaks of those “Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions. Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts. (AMP)

I believe as times get harder, the Lord is inviting us into a deeper walk with Him, to dwell in the secret place of the almighty, to go from just maintaining to becoming warriors who reflect His image and glory, that He can use to tear down the strongholds of the enemy. God bless you all.
