Discernment

For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]! But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law. ~ Hebrews 5:13-14 AMP

This scripture shares a spiritual truth that says when we are spiritually immature or unskilled in the word of righteousness, we lack discernment. It is something that we grow in as we study the word and grow as Christians, but this scripture also says that we learn through experience. It explains that our senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate between good and evil.

As a young woman, I tried to believe the best of every person. I Corinthians 13:7 says that love….is ever ready to believe the best of every person (AMP), but experience and the word of God has taught me that there are wolves, who are used by the enemy to deceive Christians and to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). While I am ready to believe the best of every person, I have also learned that the Holy Spirit gives us discernment to recognize when something does not feel right in our spirit. This is often the Holy Spirit trying to warn us that someone is out to deceive us, etc.

I have felt very concerned about the numerous reports on YouTube, about wolves in the body of Christ, who have been preying on women, children, and sometimes men. I believe the Lord is allowing these exposures because He wants to cleanse His body, in preparation for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a harvest of souls before the return of Christ.

There are those who are into witchcraft, who are claiming to do signs, wonders, and miracles or operate in the prophetic and gifts of the Holy Spirit, but they are actually working spells and preying upon women and others, who are unaware of their tactics. Satan is a counterfeiter. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are real, but the enemy is trying to counterfeit the gifts in order to deceive unsuspecting Christians. Then, there are Christians who may operate in a genuine gift of the Holy Spirit, but they are not living sanctified lives and God is exposing them also.

In Matthew, chapter 10, when Jesus sent out the 12 disciples, He told them the following:

Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; be wary and wise as serpents, and be innocent (harmless, guileless, and without falsity as doves. Be on guard against men [whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God]. Matt. 10:16-17a, AMP

I think it is time for the body of Christ to really grow up in Christ, our knowledge of the word and our discernment level, in preparation for the assignments that the Lord has for us. God bless you all.
